Suesca climbing zones
The Suesca cliff is not one wall, it is a row of sectors: the published guidebook divides Suesca climbing into 28 zones — 23 on the main cliff and 5 in the Valle de los Halcones — with 319 routes counted in the guidebook. This page gives the complete list, in guidebook order, so you can find any sector without guessing where it is.
Updated: October 2026. Route counts are the guidebook's; larger figures in circulation (400+, 500+) include development after the guidebook. Grades in the Yosemite Decimal System. Check the state of each route at the entrance before climbing it.
How the zones are ordered
The guidebook orders the 23 main-cliff zones from south to north. In practice you walk them from the railway, right to left, which is also the order route databases use: if you enter from the other end, the order flips and it is easy to get lost. Fix the sector first, not just the route.

The 23 zones add up to 319 routes in the published guidebook. If a larger figure shows up elsewhere — 400, 500 or more — it is not an error in this table: it is new development since the guidebook, not yet collected in a new edition.
The 5 zones of the Valle de los Halcones
In the Güita hamlet, above the main cliff, lies the Valle de los Halcones: about 50 routes, mostly sport, up to about 20 m, ordered from the bottom to the top. It is private land: ask permission before entering, camping is forbidden, and access is confirmed at the Tourist Information Point. It is not just another sector of the cliff: it has its own rules.
| # | Zone | Note |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Ron y Out | Lower Valley zone |
| 2 | Halcón Peregrino | Valley zone, in ascending order |
| 3 | Raza Cósmica | Valley zone, in ascending order |
| 4 | Altanería | Valley zone, in ascending order |
| 5 | Roxane | Upper Valley zone |
Picking a zone for your day
First time: El Riel or CAEC, early, before they fill up at the weekend. Hard-project day: Sueños de un Seductor or La Virgen. Multi-pitch day: CAEC if you are starting, El Diedro Rosado or LP if you already climb 5.8 over several pitches. Rainy day: look for a roof, and remember wet sandstone breaks: if the rock is soaked, do not climb.
